I am here to talk about my upcoming fantasy releases that I'm excited for. Let's go.
Charity (00:11.278)
Hey fantastic fantasy readers, I am Charity, Book Travert Reader. I love to read fantasy and introvert while doing so. I would love for you to join this Book Travert reading community by hitting the like and subscribe button and to get those fantasy book recommendations and book reviews. So I don't normally keep up with a lot of new fantasy releases that are coming out, but I decided to, you know, as I'm
As some of these new books come out, I've been kinda keeping an eye on them because I love them so much. I don't normally pre -order books. I have a rule on that because I'll share the video of the last pre -orders that I did. It was a handful of them that I was so disappointed in. So I've always kept away from pre -ordering books, but there has been a few...
this upcoming like few months that I have pre -ordered or I'm kind of waiting to be able to pre -order. So yeah, definitely I can't wait to share that with you. So again, my expectations are high on each and every single one. No pressure for authors out there, but I'm excited to finally start reading these copies that are coming out. So the first one that I'm looking forward to reading the second book in the series that's being released is
Hurricane Wars and the book is called the the book is called I'm Moon Soon Rising. It's the second book obviously for this series coming out on December 10th in 2024. I'm very excited about this copy the next book coming out because I love I love this this fantasy this is considered a sci -fi fantasy and from what I understand it's a Kylo Ren.
Fanfic inspired kind of romance now. I personally don't see it, but I'm not a Kylo Ren fan person So I I'm not the best one to judge but I this has the best slow burn Romance it has a good plot
Charity (02:18.926)
twist in the middle of the book so I highly recommend, I can't talk about too much what I loved about this book because it will just ruin the book altogether. So I highly recommend, I know for some people though and I always tell people about this book is that you gotta get past the 35 % of the book and it just gets better from there because 35 % is very heavy world building because there's a lot going on in here.
And I almost quit myself, but I decided to push forward and I'm so glad I did because this is definitely my top 2023 books that I read last year. And so the second book is coming out. They I just started seeing special editions for that book and I'm I'm not too sure if I want to get the special edition because this isn't one and.
I like my copies being the same, but I hesitated on getting a special edition on this one and I'm doing the same thing again this one. I know Barnes and Noble is offering one, but I don't know. I'm a little nervous to pay the extra money on special editions these days because of the fact that what if I don't like it? And because of my previous experience, I'm afraid that I won't like it. But I'm excited for this one. I can't wait. I did interview Thea Guanzan as well.
So definitely check out that interview, how she, some insight on this book, and I would love for you to just see her as an amazing person, or at least listen to it because it was on my podcast. And yeah, definitely looking forward to this one. So the next one that I really loved that had me kicking, giggling, like just as something that I really appreciated this one, Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Mayher.
Now if you're looking for like a cozy kind of fantasy that has a little bit of a dark humor into it, this is like the grumpy sunshine trope as they would say of fantasies. This is so cute. It has a very like dark villain that has a soft spot for his assistant who is all sunshine and roses. I pre -ordered this one and I'm pre -ordering the second book just because I also too I want the sprayed edges. But I -
Charity (04:29.838)
just find this such a good, cute, simple, easy read fantasy and I think it's just quirky. I think it's cute. It even has a map in there that is ridiculous, but it's so funny. There was a plot twist I wasn't expecting, but hey, I'm up for it. Yeah, I'm excited for the second one. The second one is being released August 8th, 2024.
And remember, any books that I'm mentioning, I'm definitely putting the links in the below because you can definitely check them out, see if that's something you want to read, but I highly recommend this if you're looking for a cute, simple, cozy fantasy. So this one is one of those books that I saw on Bookstagram for quite a while, bought the book, sat on my shelf, and I finally decided to read it, and I'm like, what the heck? Why did I just wait forever to finally read this? And this is from a fantasy indie author that I am so...
excited for her success because everyone is talking about it is Spark of the Everflame by Pen Cole. I did just finish the second book and I have the third already ordered and I'm going to pick up. The fourth book is the current moment unannounced from what I understand from the author that she's kept pushing it back and I think it has to do with how she's having struggles with publication.
So whatever the case may be, I know a few days ago she said she had a special announcement and I wasn't sure when she was gonna make that special announcement. It's maybe expected to be published in July or maybe August, I don't know. She said she's gonna set a hard deadline for that book, but we'll see. I mean, I don't know what goes into publishing, but.
You know, I have a little tidbit with my experience with talking to authors over on my podcast, but I am excited for this one. This is one that I'm super glad that the series is almost finished because the fourth book is the last book in the series because Pencol has a fun way of creating a cliffhanger that makes you immediately want to go to the second book without wanting to draw daggers.
Charity (06:42.958)
But at the same time, you're very excited to read the next one because it's done so well. It's very, I mean, this is a book that you also, if you're looking for more plot than romance, this is one of them. I mean, as far as I said, I haven't got to the third book yet, but this is good in the sense too of slow burn. I'm telling you, if you want a slow drip campaign of a slow burn, this is it. I'm s -
going into the third book and something is just about to happen and I love that that development and I love the character development in this one because it actually shows the emotion of her letting go of the past and embracing her new future. I think this is good. I definitely recommend picking it up. Indie fantasy author definitely if you want to support her probably just go to her website and purchase her books but yeah highly recommend this series if you want a angsty romance a high fantasy
plotline and all that fun stuff. So if you read my honest book review of this particular book series, you'll understand that I have a hate love relationship for this one. Now this one doesn't come out till January 21, 2025, but I am putting that on my anticipated read list and I did pre -order the book only because it's...
It's fourth wing. I pre -ordered only because they do promise the sprayed edges, the stenciled edges, so to complete, kind of, to keep my collection going, I decided to go ahead and pre -order. The cover hasn't been released yet and the story. I know if you're familiar with my content in my video earlier, I didn't like Iron Flame. I think not only did they decide to...
not do the sprayed edges but they also or the stencil edges but they decided to rush to publish basically they she published book one and two in the same year because it was fourth wing was such a success but i personally felt like iron flame was kind of a dumpster fire a little bit i mean i know i know people kind of range in different opinions on this one but i felt like there was so much in this book that
Charity (08:54.35)
could have been edited out. So with that said, even though I didn't like the second book, I did say that I am thinking that with her taking the time to write the third book, that I really honestly feel the third book is going to be so much better, because I read one of her romances. Of course, she wrote Fourth Wing, so I know she's a very strong writer. So with her taking a little bit more time of writing that book, I do hope that the third one is going to be exceeding the second one of my expectations at least. So I'm excited for Ox Storm.
I never said the title of the book till now, Ox Storm. So I am looking forward to it. You know, she did leave kind of a plot twist at the end that she was known for in the first book and I can't wait for the third book to come out for this one. And I do think she's gonna have a comeback on this one in my personal opinion.
In my world at least. So the very last one that I am looking forward to the book release is The Phoenix King by Aparma Verma. I'll tell you a little bit about this book. This is an Indian inspired book and you really see Aparma Verma's culture in this one. It's very, it's a sci -fi fantasy kind of a read. I'm kind of in the sci -fi fantasy reek kick lately and it has a lot of like the technical
Elements that that are not normal, but they are also magic in this world and there are three different POVs and one of the POVs is a character that I did not expect to be reading and you kind of see this character as a morally gray character that you kind of hate to love but love to hate because you kind of see his dedication to his kingdom how he rules with the iron fist and why he does the things that he does but
He kind of does it in a very gruel way and I guess what kind of won me over is that character. So I'm very curious to see how that character gets developed and everything. And obviously there is a romance in this book and so I want to see how that develops now. I've been kind of like really hovering over Aparma Verma's socials lately. This was published in August and there is no announcement for when the second book is coming out.
Charity (11:10.734)
So I've been kind of like really holding my breath as to when this book has a publish date. Like can we get a 2025 publish date or something? At least I say, hey, we got a second book coming. There's no like peep answer word right now. And I'm just waiting to hear back when this book, the second book is gonna be published. So I don't know when this is gonna be published and I hope.
it might be next year and because this is such a good story and I loved it and I think it's worth definitely picking up the read for sure. So those are just some of my fantasy books that I am looking forward to being published this year or in the beginning of next year. Definitely comment below what your new release that you're looking forward to so I can definitely look it up myself.
because I love book recommendations and if there's one I haven't heard about I want to know about it. So yeah, thank you for joining me. I'll catch you later readers. Bye.
